6000 series aluminum plate is Al-Mg-Si alloy, and its representative grades are 6061 aluminum plate, 6063 aluminum plate and 6082 aluminum plate. Different from the other seven brand aluminum, the temper of 6000 series aluminum plates is mainly T, and the most commonly used tempers is the T5 and T6. What is the difference between these two tempers?
Before explaining the difference between the T5 and T6 states, the user must first clarify the following two terms: Aging: the process of eliminating metal stress.
Quenching: the metal heated to a certain temperature suddenly cooled to reach the required hardness. 2,6,7 series aluminum plate can be quenched to improve strength.
T5 refers to the aluminum plate extrusion from the extruder after the use of air to quickly reduce the temperature to achieve the required hardness requirements (Webster 8 - 12 hardness). T6 refers to the state of aluminum plate extrusion from the extruder with water cooled aluminum instantaneous cooling, so that the aluminum plate to achieve higher hardness requirements (Wechsler 13.5 above hardness).
The use of air cooling for a long time, usually 2-3 days, we call natural aging; and water cooling time is short, we call artificial aging. The main difference between the T5 and T6 states is the strength, the T6 state strength is higher than the T5 state, the performance of other aspects are similar. What is the elimination of internal stress?

Aluminum in the production process, because of heat and squeeze, resulting in uneven density between crystals, the energy can not be fully released, accumulated in the aluminum interior, this energy is called internal stress. Some users' production process (such as heating, bending, deep drawing, stretching, etc.) will release the internal stress of the aluminum plate, resulting in aluminum bending, wave pattern, the surface is not equal, so the need to release the internal stress of the aluminum plate.
The process of eliminating internal stress is very simple. After the aluminum plate goes down the pipeline, the manufacturer will add a process to stretch the aluminum plate with the machine to release the energy inside the aluminum plate.
